About Daniel (DJ) Doriety

Dan Doriety — Candidate for Mayor of Irvington

A Lifetime of Service.  A Vision for Change.

My name is Daniel Doriety (DJ).  I’m a proud product of our local schools — Augusta Street School (K–3), Chancellor Avenue School (4–8), and Irvington High School, where I was a student-athlete and committed member of other extra-curriculars.

For 25 years, I proudly served as a Police Officer with the Irvington Police Department, with dignity and honor, earning commendations for bravery and lifesaving efforts. I protected this community not because it was my job, but because it is my home.

Over the past 30 years, I’ve watched our township face real challenges — rising crime, neglected infrastructure, dwindling community programs, and a steady decline in civic pride. I believe we’ve reached a turning point.

I am not a career politician. I’ve seen the best of Irvington, a township filled with pride, unity, and opportunity.  I know that with the right leadership and community effort, we can restore to the days of yore.

Cleaning up our streets, restoring public safety and integrity, and rebuilding community trust with transparency and accountability.

My Commitments to the People of Irvington:

✅ Reassign Police Resources to Protect Our Schools

I'm not just a candidate who is interested in a paycheck.  I will cut my salary on day one.  As Mayor, I will not keep a personal security detail of 8–10 armed officers — as is currently standard. Instead, those officers will be reassigned to schools that currently lack police presence.  Our children’s safety must be prioritized in times where schools are unfortunate targets.

✅ Full Transparency and Accountability

I will lead an open-door administration. Residents will know exactly how their tax dollars are being spent, and all decisions will be proven justified.  Funds will no longer be misappropriated. Our township government will work for the people and with the people. The citizens of Irvington deserve better.

✅ Revive Youth Programs

Our youth deserve safe environments and structured programs that foster their personal growth and leadership. I will develop a team dedicated to cultivating programs such as revitalizing the townships little league field on Chancellor Ave. Amongst other programs to provide our children with direction, discipline, and pride.

✅ Bring Back Public Town Meeting

The people of Irvington deserve to be heard. I will reinstate in-person public meetings, restore public seating in council chambers, and create opportunities for genuine community dialogue.

 ✅Support Law Enforcement, not Quotas

Many residents are frustrated by the recent increase in ticketing. As someone who served on the front lines, most officers do not agree that this should be the focus of their efforts.  They are simply following orders from the current administration. From day one of my administration, I will support the Police Department in refocusing their efforts to protect and serve our community and exercise their discretion upon issuing traffic summons.

✅ Expose Mismanagement and Restore Integrity

During my years on the force, I witnessed troubling decisions and political interference that I was not permitted to confront. Today, I am no longer bound by employment contracts or threats.  As Mayor, I will share what needs to be known — because our people deserve the truth.

A New Team. A New Direction.

I am assembling a leadership team committed to excellence, innovation, and results. That includes:

● New leadership for our Police and Fire Departments

● A top-tier grant writer to secure funding our community needs

● Fresh ideas and energetic professionals to revitalize Town Hall

● A custom-built community relations strategy inspired by successful programs in neighboring towns.

Day one marks the beginning of a new era for Irvington — one built on accountability, community, and real progress.

I Can’t Be Bought. I Owe No Favors. I Play No Games.

I am running to make Irvington strong, safe, and proud again.  My promise is simple:

 ● 100% transparency

 ● Zero corruption

 ● No political games

● Full public involvement

As I’ve always told my children:

“Actions speak louder than words.”

It’s time Irvington had a mayor who believes that — and lives it.

Let’s Build a Better Irvington — Together

If you share my vision for a cleaner, safer, and more honest town government, I respectfully ask for your support, your voice, and your vote.

Together, we can restore Irvington and reclaim the pride we once had.
